Thank you all very much!
Super helpful. I’ll give it a shot, and also look into the free tools mentioned.
When exporting, say, from trueSpace, I’m assuming I’d have to smooth quad divide repeatedly to get a higher resolution / smoother finished surface. Correct?

Re: 3D printing a trueSpace model?
Sorry! I don’t mean 3D print FROM trueSpace. Just making sure trueSpace is still even suitable for modeling something to THEN export (STL?) and print using supplied software.

3D printing a trueSpace model?
Hey guys! I’m hoping to 3D print a model from trueSpace6/7. Haven’t got a printer yet (planning to get a resin-based) but am curious as to whether I’ll have to learn a new design tool, or if I can simply export (STL?) and use a supplied slicer software to prep for printing. Thanks for any suggestion...

Re: "Intrigue"
Hello there! Thanks for the comments (and for the private message letting me know there were comments). :D I've been keeping busy with "regular" work these days. The last short film I made is one called "Aluminum". It's a quirky mockumentary film about an unusual southern guy wit...

Re: "Intrigue"
Thanks, guys! I waver back and forth about doing my next short animated film as a "clay"mation style (in look), or just sticking with my jittery paper-cutout style. I'm thinking I'll go with the paper one, as clay is a tricky one to do in trueSpace. I got Dribble going, and the displacemen...

"Intrigue"
Here's a simple ("lazy"?) scene I rendered today. The character is one I've used in stuff before, but with slightly different shading. Used Simbiont's "Soft Leather" material, customized, and did some layered reflectance with maps for selective specularity for the fingerprint are...

Re: Clay Shader? (Alternative to SimbiontTS)
First attempt.
Definitely warrants some tweaking, but for a few minutes of fiddling, it seems like Dribble should yield some great results.

Re: Clay Shader? (Alternative to SimbiontTS)
Thank you, Emmanuel!
Using version 11 seems to have fixed it. I'm not able to get that displacement mapping going, but at least I'm getting shadows now.
UPDATE: If I use the 1.04wip Dribble tsx, I can get displacement mapping.

Re: Clay Shader? (Alternative to SimbiontTS)
Thanks, Emmanuel!
I followed the install instructions, restarted, and gave it a go. Getting nothing but bland renders, so something is definitely wrong.
At any rate, I appreciate the help!
