Cloth Sim Problem
Ok, I need help!
I want to do a sand bag and for realistic means I will use the Cloth sim, but I don't want that it looses volume (screw up on the ground). So which parameters disable that? I really need it. I'm using the WS cloth sim, maybe DD plugin is better for that?
Thanks in Advance

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
I'm not sure what your problem is about keeping the volume of the sandbag.
Did you use more fixation points? Also don't use a plane when doing cloth use a
thin cube instead. Are you freezing the cloth so that it does not change after it is
in the shape you like?

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
Here is some images to explanation.
When it touches the ground loses the volume, I just want to make it flexible, not a jelly that loses volume. Can you understand?
Thanks in Advance

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
What your looking for is softbody dynamics likem in Blender not cloth.
But you can use the clothplugin from modelside likem in Designdevils clip

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
Design Devil's plugin can do what I want? Or I need to do the trench at Blender?

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
I remember that there was a video of softbody sim in workspace with a tyre bouncing down some stairs (I'm not sure who did the demo). I'm not really sure why you couldn't use the cloth system in 7.6 for this purpose - I thought it reacted with everything, including physics.

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
The tire bouncing isnt the problem I can do that in Ts pretty easily by just using a higher elasticity on the normal physics engine its theBenji wrote:I remember that there was a video of softbody sim in workspace with a tyre bouncing down some stairs (I'm not sure who did the demo). edeformation of the sandbag that causes the trouble.

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
So what I do: Do it on Blender then import it on TS?
or DD's plugin can do that, so I just need to use the Model side and do it?
Please help me. Thanks in Advance

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
What I would do to simulate it is to make a morph target with the shape that you want and run physics simulation (with higher elasticity about 15%)with keyframing and adjust the part when it hits the ground with a short implementation of the morph... that must look realistic enough...

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
This isn't what the demo was, it was a softbody demonstration using tires. It is exactly the kind of thing that is being discussed here unless I'm missing something. Here is the link to the tire demo (first post on the page). The tire bouncing isnt the problem I can do that in Ts pretty easily by just using a higher elasticity on the normal physics engine its the

You could do this in blender, but then you will have to render it there.
Anyway, good luck.......

Can't I import the object that I did in Blender to Truespace? You could do this in blender, but then you will have to render it there.

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
I am not to familiar with the export import process, but I think it would be an issue of exporting the softbody affect.
but if there is a way to get teh model where you want it from soft body and then generate a wire mesh after the process, you may be able to export to TS from that.

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
You know the nice thing about people who point you to demos that other people made they dont tell you what settings
they used.I tried it on a simple sphere and even drove the damping up to 1 and it still falls togther like a piece of cloth.
You cant assign both rubber elasticity and a rubber like deformation.
Exporting that softbody effect is possible from Blender to Vue but not to Ts because it doesnt support multi obj. import.
Collada doesnt support mesh animation.
Froo asked me some time ago if it were a good idea to have ...well ....
The best way to go is with morphing and physics with higher elasticity.
Or ask the person who made the demo because I cant reproduce it and it was made with a beta version... so lots of things can have changed.

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
The more I think about it the more i am biased to say yes you can import and render the sequence from Blender.
The falling of that thing would take about one second thats something like 15-30 obj files.
You could import one by one manually and render each frame one by one. I have done that with fluids before. It takes some time but it works.Robert is working on a sequential LUUV exporter .. he might be able to do an importer too but we have to ask him.

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
Great news RAYMAN, but I think is to complicated I'll do it as the old way, modify vertice by vertice. ^^

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
You do realise that you are getting testy over a falling, sack, right? This demo may be in the sample files, I haven't checked. I've done this myself, I'm pretty sure (but maybe it was using clothmotion) - the settings are going to be different for every object. You know the nice thing about people who point you to demos that other people made they dont tell you what settings
they used.
Again, I will point out that this is a thread about a falling sack.
It can be done in truespace, but if you choose to use blender good luck, and make sure you have enough Scotch and coke handy (that's always where I go wrong). Personally, I think the morphing idea wasn't a bad one, and was far less painful than the blender option (which nearly everything is when compared to truespace).

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
I got it running in Blender 2.5 yesterday pretty easily but didnt get it to run in Truespace.
The trick in Blender is to drive up the value for bending pretty high so that the mesh doesnt collapse.
and it did it fairly well. I didnt render that as I have another animation rendering in the background.
Leonregis is in fear that its actually very complicated which I cant see.
Same as blender rfluids... they are actually pretty straight foreward when you compare it
to Realflow.
And what do I do in Blender ? I just import that sack raise it over my surface go to edit mode subdivide it so that
it looks dense enough then back to object mode. go to the physics tab which is farthest on your right and with the sack selected
I pick soft body.I then turn the bending property to full 10.select where i drop it to and pick collision.
To make it run i hit alt a . to stop it I hit alt a again and wind the animation back in the timeline using the timeline arrows.
Thats it ... no more .. darn simple.
(I know it works with dynacloth but please show us the settings for TS cloth)

Re: Cloth Sim Problem
Hey Guys! I bring good news, I don't know how, but I discovered that if you set the like this way:
Scr...: 0.1
Ben...: 0.01
Dam...: 1
Mas...: 1
It will act like soft body dinamics... At least worked here...
Edit: I did some tests and it progressively looses volume but if you be fast you can have it with almost 80%
I post some trench images after...
