hi,
When I click on the icon, it opens TS and the layout is there. But if I go
out of that screen, into default, say, it's gone. Even if I just go to the
model side and back to workspace, it's gone.
How can I get it to stay in there? There is no "Tiles layout tab"
that I can switch to.

Hi Tyler, hope your doing well in school.
Top left of the screen there is a drop down "save layouts"
Save it in your RS Main Libraries/Layouts-Configurations directory
This will create a tab at the top of your screen.
You could also save it as a layout in your Stack/Layout library.

But I'm still going to stick with the Tiles layout. Now I have a Tiles
Layout tab! Great, now I can move around. That's one problem
tackled...
