Graphics issue on setup

Post by CdeB »

With the impending deadline looming I broadcast the end of trueSpace downloads to my Research Unit the need to download, so we may have some new members soon.

My boss wanted trueSpace on his computer. It installed but did not run!

I checked the direct X and its was 9.0c but I think there is an issue with the graphics card. He is away at the moment, so I don’t know what he has under the hood of his computer.

The error message I got was:

Failure to create any D3D device (HAL or REF) 3D engine cannot continue on device without 3D acceleration

Code file \D3DRender\RsD3DWindowedThread.cpp
Codeline: 199
Windows error:126

What I am not sure about is whether this is a driver issue or the fact that his graphics card is just not up to the job.

Any pointers will be much appreciated. He can certainly afford a better card!

Thanks

PS
We even have a guy working in our group who is an imaging specialist (with PhD) and who writes custom 3D software for our advanced imaging techniques...so I am interested to see how he finds trueSpace...especially on the WorkSpace side...maybe we'll get another developer ;)

back on the desktop>> right clik>> properties>> tab settings>> select 'Color quality' 16bits
if it works, you can start by selecting 24Bits
Be sure you have d3dx9_26.dll
If it don't work, maybe you need to change the (old?) video card or driver.
