ugg going smooth then => wall

well i sort of worked around but it does not make any sense to me.

I am following the Caligari tutorial on how to make a mouse. And i must say it is nice and I am learning but after I hollow out my mouse. It appears to be hollow to me I make the first lathe tool but and well the bottom remains hollow but the top becomes a solid. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong
