Simbiont problems

Post by splinters »

Yup, me again. Worth pointing out that I am running Win 7 64 bit ultimate here.
I have installed Simbiont and libraries, copied the config files into tS, reinstalled etc. etc. but when I load a simbiont material vis the material library I am getting the shader"" cannot be found. I can manually load darktrees in but scenes that used simbionts before now have their materials just plain white.
I am pretty sure I got this working on my Win 7 desktop but cannot seem to get it here...just what am I doing wrong?

Paul,
I just upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit and had some trouble installing Simbionts as well (in tS 6.6). The program told me that it could not find the ‘component dlls’ and that I should check the cfg. File path to fix things-it gave me a ‘blank’ shader just like you experienced. I had copied the appropriate files into the correct places though-Simbiont cfg into the ‘config’ folder and the SimbiontTS.tss file into the shaders/material folder. What I did notice is that the 64 bit install created two ‘program file’ folders…one called ‘program files’ and the other called ‘program files (x86)’. I had copied the DarkSim file into ‘x86’ program files thinking that this is where they should go. The only thing I could think to try was to copy that DarkSim file into the non-(x86) program files folder to see if trueSpace 6.6 would look for the shaders there. It worked-I haven’t thoroughly tested yet of course but everything seems to boot up the way it should. This sounded a lot like your problem so I thought I would mention it-in case you wanted to run a more recent version of the simbionts. It also works with 7.61 Beta 8 by the way.
Cheers, Possum
